Hybrid OU Pre-ETS brings transition services to rural districts through digitally delivered lessons paired with specialist support. Teachers receive guidance from OU Pre-ETS specialists to deliver lessons with the same consistency and quality as in-person instruction, ensuring students receive weekly transition services regardless of their location.

OU Work Skills Trainers help young adults turn potential into employment. We coach the essentials: career exploration, résumés and applications, interviewing, workplace communication, and professional habits. Sessions are convenient, in-person or on Zoom. We collaborate with families and schools.

OU Peer Mentoring connects students ages 16-21 with dedicated mentors for weekly one-on-one sessions via Zoom. These personalized mentoring relationships focus on post-secondary planning, helping students explore and prepare for their futures whether they're interested in employment, technical school, or college pathways.
A statewide summer learning experience for Pre-ETS recipients that includes a paid internship opportunity.
The program has two segments:
After completing BEST, recipients who are ready can move on to STEP, gaining valuable real-world work experience.

Increase the ability to effectively communicate, convey personal interests and needs, and learn about self-determination by helping students learn more about themselves, their disability, and how to present themselves responsibly.

An educational approach that uses the workplace to provide students with the knowledge and skill understanding that will help them connect school experiences to real-life work activities and future career opportunities.

Assist students to achieve academic goals during high school and explore various types of college and job training programs, including branches of the military.

Explore the world of work and career options to foster motivation, consideration of opportunities, and informed decision-making skills using assessments, interest inventories, and in-demand occupation information.

Prepare students for the workplace with soft skills training and independent living skills that are necessary for most jobs.
Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) provide coordinated activities for students with disabilities and WIOA potentially eligible youth, helping them transition from school to post-school activities through individualized job training and education opportunities.
Pre-ETS is provided at no cost to students/recipients, families, or educational institutions.
Pre-ETS is funded through a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) to the National Center for Disability Education and Training (NCDET) at the University of Oklahoma.
